Since 1995, we have helped save abandoned, abused and surrendered pets in the local community. Our goal is save the lives of animals and create lifelong relationships by placing them in loving homes.
Our Mission
For Pets’ Sake is a non profit organization working independently, as well as networking with shelters and other rescue groups. We offer safe, loving care while seeking permanent forever homes for as many animals as possible. It is our vision that these efforts along with spay/neuter education will produce a drastic reduction of abandoned animals being killed because they are simply not wanted.
FAST FACTS
For Pets' Sake focuses on small dog breeds with a maximum weight of 30 pounds. Often times these small dogs will end up euthanized. Many small dogs don't fair well within a shelter environment, which causes them to become scared and snappy. This can make them poor candidates for adoption. Fortunately, we're able to rescue many little dogs and adopt them out to loving, caring homes.
Additionally, we seek out older small dogs that have been left behind. Through the support of donations, foster families and fur loving volunteers we are able to give these senior animals a better quality of life.
We'd love your help and support. Please consider making a donation, becoming a foster family, adopting a small dog or learning more about volunteer opportunities with us. Visit our Contact page and send us an email.
What We've Achieved
More than 10,000 dogs have been rescued and saved since we formed our organization.
We partner and work with 10 regional animal services and control groups, including Washoe County Regional Animal Services (WCRAS), Nevada Humane Society (NHS) and the following county animal control centers: Battle Mountain, Fernley, Lander, Merced, Silver Springs, Stanislaus and Susanville.
All adopted pets are groomed, spayed/neutered and vaccinated.
Senior pet adoptees are provided with dental care.
Rescued and surrendered pets stay with our loving foster families until they're ready for adoption.
Our dog loving founders have been recognized throughout the community and have both been nominated and received certificates and awards for their efforts.
